Local garage-rock outfit Mr Russia released its new EP, Training For The Gameshow Host, for free on its website. The six-song collection, a follow-up to the group's 2009 full-length Teething, is as seductive as it is perky; the words, "I wanna love you like a fireball" slur out over deeply synthesized bass on "Fireball," followed by the rest of the band chanting "Burn!" in a tone just too happy not to be disturbing. The rest is conventional, stripped-down garage rock (though some piano on "It's True" adds spice), but the group's cover of Radiohead's "The National Anthem" rings way too true to the original.
