None Night And Day: A Cole Porter Evening at Pavilion at Ravinia Festival Grounds

There’s no denying that Chicago has a complex about New York: Many of our aspiring actors, musicians, and other talents eventually leave here for there to “make it.” But this salute to composer-songwriter Cole Porter flips the tables by bringing Broadway to Ravinia—sort of. David Hyde Pierce (Frasier’s Niles Crane and Wet Hot American Summer’s reclusive astronomer Henry Newman) and musical-theater singer Victoria Clark will share vocal duties as they revisit selections from Porter’s songs featured in stage musicals, including “It’s De-Lovely” from Red, Hot And Blue and “What Is This Thing Called Love?” from Wake Up And Dream. True, it’s a touch strange, but for the usually affordable Ravinia lawn tickets, fans of musical theater and Frasier could do much worse.
