Despite forming in mid-2008, local band Phantom Works has largely been content to actually get its shit together before rushing out to play shows: The group only started performing live in early 2009, but it’s been worth the wait. Self-promotion clearly isn’t a priority (the band’s MySpace merely says it formed with a list of things to do and another list of things not to do), but given how invigorating and cutting the trio’s chugging guitars and jangly choruses are, it needn’t be. The tight demos currently streaming on the band's site portend for raucous live shows, which bodes particularly well when it has something to celebrate at this show: the release of its debut album.
