Brooklyn-by-way-of-Georgia artist Matthew Houck has been recording as Phosphorescent since 2003, garnering comparisons to artists from Will Oldham to Bob Dylan. His latest, Here's To Taking It Easy, adds The Band to that list: It isn’t a full-album homage like 2008's Willie Nelson tribute To Willie, but save for brief detours into freak-folk and Crazy Horse-esque guitar workouts, the record puts a laid-back spin on alt-country that wouldn't sound strange seeping out from Big Pink. J. Tillman is best known as the drummer for Fleet Foxes, but long before he joined that buzz band, he built up an impressive career as a solo artist in his own right. In 2009 he released two albums of plaintive, spare, haunting country-folk, Vacilando Territory Blues and Year In The Kingdom
