Polica, Marijuana Death Squad, and Total Fucking Blood at Lincoln Hall
Nothing jump-starts a new band’s career like a stellar pedigree, something Minneapolis’ Polica can surely attest to. With members from Roma Di Luna, Vampire Hands, Gayngs, and Bon Iver, the group quickly shot to prominence on the strength of a few scattered songs. Good thing those songs live up to the hype: “Wandering Star” is a gauzy, strangely groovy track highlighted by singer Channy Casselle’s droning croon, while “Lay Your Cards Out” practically begs to become a future bedroom-sex mix-tape staple. The group’s new record, Give You The Ghost, should do okay, especially now that Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon is fully on board, telling Rolling Stone that Polica is “the best band [he’s] ever heard.”
