None The Queers, The Ataris, and Far From Finished at Reggie's Rock Club
New Hampshire band The Queers formed in 1982, when a band named The Queers would probably raise more than a few eyebrows before it even hit the stage. But, nearly 30 years later, it takes a lot more than a tongue-in-cheek name to get people up in arms. The group was always more concerned with perpetual adolescence, loading up its Ramones-like pop-punk with Beach Boys-lite vocals and goofy lyrics. Recording other bands kept frontman Joe King from recording with his band for a while after 2007’s airy Munki Brain. But the most recent album, 2010’s Back To The Basement, takes a fun trip back into the snotty, three-chord punk the band so joyously conjured on Love Songs For The Retarded, particularly on crassly titled songs like “Tit Fuck.”
