The Kinks' legacy has sadly been overshadowed by their more famous fellow British rockers, but they produced some of the best rock of the '60s and '70s, with hits like “You Really Got Me” and “Lola,” as well as heralded concept records like The Village Green Preservation Society. Since the band's 1996 break-up, frontman Ray Davies, who writes with wry, scathing humor, has been touring on his own. Recently, the 65-year-old Davies has turned back to his old music: Last year’s The Kinks Choral Collection teamed him with the Crouch End Festival Chorus to cover Kinks classics, and now Davies is prepping yet another redux record with Bruce Springsteen, The Killers, and Jon Bon Jovi. Those guys better not lay a finger on “Waterloo Sunset.”
