Second City 50th Anniversary Festival: Panel: Second City And The State Of Sitcom at Second City (Mainstage)
For every Two And A Half Men and According To Jim raping the airwaves these days, fortunately, there’s a 30 Rock and The Office to help balance things out and actually make prime-time sitcoms appointment television. Second City has a long history of its alumni graduating into professional comedy by snagging spots on Saturday Night Live or wedging their ways into the business via sitcoms, and this Second City panel seeks to diagnosis the current state of the dying art form of the 22-minute comedy. Uniquely qualified to direct the conversation are 30 Rock’s Jack McBrayer, Scott Adsit, and Kay Cannon (all former Chicago improvisers), who will be joined here by the other end of the spectrum with Peter Murietta, executive producer of Disney’s The Wizards Of Waverly Place.
