None Themselves + Eyedea And Abilities at Reggie's Rock Club
Rhymesayers associates Eyedea And Abilities have been making magic together since the late '90s, and made considerable headway with 2004’s well-received E&A. They took some time apart in the five years since, with Abilities moving to Milwaukee and Eyedea experimenting with rock and free jazz in other projects. They regrouped triumphantly with this year’s By The Throat, which sees Abilities scratching his way around the turntables, creating an unmatched background for Eyedea’s brute-force lyrical delivery. Also back together is Doseone and Jel, a.k.a. Themselves (but perhaps even better known as part of sprawling six-piece Subtle). The duo’s reunion behind the recent Crowns Down proves there’s still chemistry between Dose’s nasally rap acrobatics and the bleak expanse of Jel’s production.
