None Valley Girl at Doc Films - Max Palevsky Cinema

Any categorical romantic comedy hater has obviously never seen Valley Girl. In one of his first movie roles, a 19-year-old Nic Cage plays angsty, lovestruck punk heartthrob Randy. In true rom-com fashion, Randy falls for Julie, a materialistic prom queen from the Valley (Deborah Foreman). Battling an army of Valley d-bags for her affections and acceptance, Cage spends the better part of the movie hurling hilarious one-liners. If Nic’s baby blues don’t convince you, maybe you’ll be enticed by spandex, boobs, sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll (because it’s got that, too; the soundtrack featuring Modern English, Sparks, and other seminal New Wave acts, is incredible).
