A.V. Club: Best of the Decade
  • Lincoln Hall Clayton Huack

Lincoln Hall

2424 N. Lincoln Ave.
Chicago IL 60614
$18/$20
  • Thu Nov 5 9 pm,
Vic Chesnutt Band and Clare And The Reasons at Lincoln Hall

A surly songwriter who does well by his Southern Gothic mantle, Vic Chesnutt plays country-fried folk that wavers between despondent fatalism and earthy fantasy. His voice is frail, and his tales can be wan, but what comes out of his best work is pronounced and strong. These days, Chesnutt is out on the road with Fugazi's Guy Picciotto and members of Montreal post-rock band A Silver Mt. Zion, who joined him 2007's North Star Deserter and the bleak new At The Cut.
