"Say Your Prayers" by The Lonely H

If Kings Of Leon can give Joy Division's arid post-punk a Southern-rock overlay, there's no reason why the Washington state teens in The Lonely H can't grease up Roxy Music's glammy art-rock a little. The Lonely H's sophomore LP, Hair, is unsurprisingly shaggy given the quintet's youth, but the conceptual daring of songs like the eight-minute "The Drought"—which sounds at times like an alt-country version of Queen—comes out more thrilling than self-indulgent. And when The Lonely H tables the weirdness, these boys are capable of clean-burning classic rock like "Say Your Prayers," fueled by two guitars and a full-throated yelp.
