An Inconvenient Truth: the opera

On the heels of upcoming operatic adaptations of Il Postino, The Fly, and Brokeback Mountain comes this news: Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth is being made into an opera as well. At the helm is modernist composer Giorgio Battistelli, who has been commissioned to rework Gore’s epic documentary about climate change for the 2011 season of Milan’s La Scala. That is, if Europe isn’t under fifty feet of water by then.
