Brokeback Mountain, the opera

Hacky comedians and late night talk show hosts, rejoice! You have an excuse to dust off your old Brokeback Mountain jokes! The New York City Opera commissioned Charles Wuorinen to compose an opera based the 1997 short story by Annie Proulx that became the basis for the 2005 movie. The opera is scheduled to premiere in spring 2013.
