Not that the original is an unassailable classic or anything, but somehow the idea of a Footloose remake--with High School Musical star Zac Efron inheriting the role made famous by Kevin Bacon, as the "rebellious newcomer in a town where dancing is forbidden"--makes us feel a little sad (not to mention old). Maybe it's the fact that its director is Kenny Ortega, the man behind Newsies and all three HSM and Cheetah Girls movies. More likely it's the fact that it will be a "full-blown musical" along the lines of its recent Broadway staging, and yet there's not one mention of Kenny Loggins.
