Tagline:
"Five blind master killers pull off the most unbelievable heist of all time... But even 15 million CIA dollars won't get them back their sight!" Also, "Revenge made them hate the man... But money was the excuse to blast him!"
Plot:
A criminal mastermind hits upon what is advertised often and erroneously as a "foolproof plan": hiring five blind guys to rob an Asian bank containing $15 million earmarked for fighting Communism in postwar Vietnam. To make the plan even less foolproof, a good percentage of the sight-impaired super-criminals were blinded while ripping off their underworld associates. The crooks are told to fire wildly if they hear any unfamiliar noises during the heist itself, a strategy that leads to a lot of unnecessary corpses.
Key scenes:
A bank-employee insider needs a good 15 seconds of convincing before he agrees to the scheme, then requires 20 seconds more of sketchy reasoning when he learns that the plan will be carried out by blind men. The sightless robbers similarly require 20 seconds or so of greed-based persuasion before they agree to the heist. Bank robber D'Urville Martin attempts to prove that Zatôichi isn't the world's only blind swordsman, but just ends up giving blind pimps-turned-master-criminals a bad name by trying to rape the woman hired to train him and his colleagues for their criminal endeavor.
Can easily be distinguished by:
It's that movie where the blind dudes rob a bank.
Timeless message:
Disabled people can accomplish anything they put their minds to, including pulling off boneheaded, unpatriotic robberies. But getting away with it is tougher, especially with guest star Fred Williamson vowing to put the hammer down on their reign of sight-impaired terror.
Memorable quotes:
The sentiment "How can blind guys rob a bank?" is repeated throughout.
