Tagline:
"A woman and a warrior that became a legend."
Plot:
After evil queen Sandahl Bergman orders emotionless master swordslady Brigitte Nielsen raped and her family killed, Nielsen vows revenge. Aided by Arnold Schwarzenegger (whose stiffer-than-usual performance screams "I am contractually obligated to appear in this film"), Nielsen sets off on an epic quest and encounters a sass-talking, kung-fu-fighting, pint-sized monarch (Ernie Reyes Jr.); a dinosaur-spine bridge; a mechanical, dragon-like "killing machine"; wizardry; teleportation; cheesy sets; and fevered overacting.
Key scenes:
In the first scene, an exposition-minded spirit visits the dazed Nielsen, telling her facts she should already know. Among the choice revelations: Nielsen is suffering because the wicked, kinky Bergman wanted to get to know her in the Biblical sense. The spirit wraps up its spiel by telling Nielsen that in her "quest for justice and vengeance," her "sword-arm must have no equal," then charitably announces, "I give you that strength." Later, a pot-bellied toll-taker named Brytag (played by Pat Roach) demands tribute in exchange for letting Nielsen pass. When she asks how much, the suave Roach says, "Who mentioned money? Tribute, I said. The tender kind all women pay to Brytag." When she refuses to pay "tender" tribute, Roach yells, "I'm going to feed your eyes to the birds, red-hair!"
Can easily be distinguished by:
It's the world's only big-budget Brigitte Nielsen vehicle.
Timeless message:
Violence is always the answer.
Memorable quotes:
Shortly after threatening to feed Nielsen's eyes to the birds, the seemingly hair-fixated Roach threatens, "I will tell the future in your entrails, red woman!"
