Long-distance relationships are notoriously difficult to maintain, but what of those that cross not only state lines, but also interplanetary borders? That's the central issue behind 1989's Outlaw Of Gor, a sequel (to Gor, naturally) brave enough to explore the myriad difficulties facing the relationship between bookish, shirtless academic Urbano Barberini and his literally star-crossed lover, outer-space princess-warrior Rebecca Ferratti. Opening, as all good science-fiction epics must, in a sleazy singles bar, Outlaw Of Gor finds Barberini on Earth, pining for Ferratti while sleazy sidekick Russel Savadier attempts to pick up hairspray-abusing tramps with seemingly foolproof lines like, "What's your sign... yielding?" Summoned by the all-powerful home stone, the pair soon find themselves on Barberini's beloved planet of Gor, where the exposition-loving, clothing-averse populace welcomes him as a returning hero. But all is not well on Gor, and after being betrayed by Savadier, Barberini is framed for the murder of Ferratti's father, affording power-mad Intergalactic Evita Donna Denton the opportunity to seize power and enslave the poorly dubbed masses. A cruel and shameless ruler, Denton soon forces Ferratti to participate in the barbarian-planet equivalent of foxy-boxing. Fortunately for the people of Gor, Ferratti is no slouch in the cat-fighting department, and she hands a royal beatdown to both a whip-cracking space gladiator and a pair of well-oiled galactic grapplers. Barberini, meanwhile, trades in his duplicitous sidekick for a more compact one (comical little-person Nigel Chipps) and sets about saving Ferratti, a process that also involves freeing a busty, giant-haired slave. Denton seems unstoppable, particularly after a bounty hunter captures Barberini and his desert-planet Mini-Me. But Savadier ultimately sees the light, exposing Denton and in the process clearing the way for Outlaw Of Gor's heroes to resume their affair, this time with Barberini as the new king of Gor and Ferratti as his happily retired bride.
