Hammer Films: It's alive!

May 11th, 2007
Grab your Spooky Sound Effects CD and cue up "Creaking Coffin Lid": British horror studio Hammer Films is clawing its way out of the grave thanks to a multi-million dollar investment from Dutch producer John De Mol. Cyrte Investments, led by De Mol, has purchased the rights to the Hammer name and its 300+ title library of "Hammer House Of Horror" films, including the Frankenstein, Dracula, Mummy, and Quartermass franchises. The reinvigorated studio--which hasn't released anything since the mid-'80s--plans to produce two to three Hammer projects a year for both film and television.
