Mormon officials are up in arms about this depiction of the Mountain Meadows Massacre of 1857, with good reason.
It still seems remarkable that an X-rated movie ever won Best Picture, but is it an example of the counterculture subverting Hollywood, or being co-opted by it? Maybe a little of both.
