CuCu Diamantes at The Bohemian Caverns

It’s no surprise that CuCu Diamantes’ eclectic music contains elements of everything from African rhythm to Cuban funk to hip-hop: The singer comes from a mixed background and looks to her cultural heritage for musical inspiration, injecting salsa, funk, and “nuyorican boogaloo” into her wildly diverse sound. Yerba Buena, the Latin funk collective Diamantes co-founded with Venezuelan producer Andres Levin, has received immense acclaim for its innovative fusion of musical genres and even managed to garner a Grammy nomination in 2004. Diamantes is currently supporting her 2009 solo debut album, CuCuland.
