As the name suggests, Lez Zeppelin is a group of four women who play Led Zeppelin songs. The band changed out three of its members—all but founder Steph Paynes—for new players earlier this year in an attempt to keep the act “fresh,” but it’s still unclear how new people playing old songs can offer anything particularly different. Most tribute bands are both honorable and horrific enterprises in any context, but the women in Lez Zep are much better at doing their forebears justice than they even need to be.
