A Shoreline Dream’s great week, UMS lineup final, and more
Our music scene is a busy place with lots happening. If you don’t obsessively visit the local blogs, alt-weeklies, and other outlets, you could miss something important! That’s okay—we’re here to help with a weekly roundup of some of the more enticing news happening around town.
• It’s been a good week for A Shoreline Dream: The Denver four-piece put out some new work on an old song—the literally and figuratively dark music video for “Ukraine”—and it also sent a track overseas to be featured on the just-released British GQ iPad app.

• The Underground Music Showcase announced the final round of artist additions to its late-July lineup, which now includes Sage Francis, Hellogoodbye, Gauntlet Hair, and Nathan And Stephen. The full list is over at Reverb.
• The Westboro Baptist Church got some minor comeuppance recently from Colorado radio jockey Charley Barnes. The Windsor-based country-music DJ gathered a few his friends and took a motorcycle trip to the WBC compound in Topeka, Kansas, where they protested the church’s protest of military funerals. American flags were waved, police were called, Westboro churchgoers were scattered, and Barnes even ate some doughnuts.
• Denver’s Hideous Men are soon to be Chicago’s. The duo is making a move to the Midwest later this summer, where they will continue to produce electronic-based, experimental jams and run their DIY-minded label Laser Palace. A farewell show is scheduled for June 30 at Rhinoceropolis.
• Goodbye to some, hello to others: The Royal is playing a “secret but not too secret” first show tonight at Lost Lake. The brand-new outfit is a medley of mostly local musicians, yet another supergroup of former/current members of various Denver bands. An EP is slated for release in July; preview the demos at The Royal’s ReverbNation page.
