Achille Lauro to release six new tracks via download
First pair of tracks coming in early June
It looks like Achille Lauro—Denver’s once-brooding post-rockers turned indie groove machines—will be kicking off the summer with two new singles, maybe via a kick-ass twist on the download card. According to Achille Lauro’s bassist Jon Evans, the band has spent the last few months recording six songs at Notably Fine Audio, and the plan is to release the tracks two at a time, with the first pair dropping in early June.
The release show is still up in the air, but the quartet can agree on one thing: It won’t be pushing any 7-inch record. Instead, the group intends to make some imaginative download cards. “We [want] to be creative. We [want] to do an Achille Lauro sports drink,” Evans says, explaining that the drink’s label would peel off to reveal the download code.
Genius marketing aside, the group still isn’t sure which tracks will be be released first—“Lighting,” “Lowcha,” “Hard Pressed,” “Supernatural Beings,” “Hand Of Sand,” and “God Is An Island” are the six tracks in the can, all of which are still in contention to be featured on the debut release. In the meantime, here’s a promo video of the band screwing around in the studio to get you primed for the future, “HEY!” containing tracks.
