Tomorrow, Aug. 30, Gimme Gimme Pillow Toast in Lakewood is hosting its second annual Cosplay Costume Contest, as local musician and performance artist Andrew Novick and his wife Janene Hurst open the doors of their retail space for a day of cupcake eating and general goofiness. Costumed anime fans and local gothic lolitas are encouraged to don their best petticoats and cat ears for prizes. The event is also a precursor to Nan Desu Kan, the anime convention happening Sept. 11-13 at the Marriott DTC in Denver. Monolith Festival is the same weekend as the ani-con, so if sitting through 600 indie bands in a row isn’t your bag, put on your Sailor Moon costume and head to the Tech Center where we’re sure you’ll meet the Tuxedo Mask of your dreams.
