Breckenridge Brewery turns 20, one more year and it’ll be legal

It’ll be a different kind of foam party when Breckenridge Brewery hosts its 20th anniversary celebration on Saturday. (Get it? Beer? Foam party? Say hello to your kindly drunk uncle.) Held at the brewery’s Kalamath Street location (471 Kalamath St., 303-573-0431), the birthday bash features all the familiar Breckenridge brews, plus tastings of special-release beers—like SummerBright Ale, aged in a cabernet wine barrel. Kooky!

Breckenridge will also show off firkin treatments of its brews, meaning batches of, say, Avalanche Ale made the old-fashioned way. Really old-fashioned. “It’s similar to the old way from thousands of years ago,” says marketing director Todd Thibault. “The beer is smoother, less carbonated. It tends to have a fuller character.”

The whole damn neighborhood’s invited, too: Infinite Monkey Theorem, the “urban winery” located about a block away from the brewery, is providing the wine, and the whiskey comes from down the street at Stranahan’s.

Partiers will also get treated to live music from the likes of Reverend Hooch & The Dirty Gospel, Marty Jones And The Great Unknowns, and The Goat Ropers (featuring Breckenridge’s warehouse manager). Food will be provided courtesy of a giant pig, roasted to crispy perfection.

All the fun is included—yes, drinks, food, and music—for $20 cash at the door. The taps start flowing at noon and run until around 7 p.m.
