If you aren't scared of a little snow—okay, if you aren't scared of a moderate-to-considerable amount of snow—tonight offers a special treat. Analog Space is throwing a free holiday party at the Meadowlark, which is cool enough on its own, considering that AS main man Peter Black is one of this city's most tireless and passionate DJs. It gets cooler though, because Brim Liski is playing its first-ever live set tonight at the party.
If you're scratching your head and asking, "Who now?" then you are missing out. Brim Liski is the side project/super group of A Shoreline Dream's Ryan Policky and CacheFlowe (a.k.a. Justin Gitlin). The duo broke onto the scene a few years back with "Fight," from its self-titled debut EP. The act fused the dream-pop atmospherics of Policky's main band, threw in a little Ulrich Schnauss, then propelled it with Gitlin's typically intricate and detailed programming for a mix they were calling "electrogaze dreamhop." Whatever you want to call it, it's a deep, gorgeous mix of sounds, perfect for this weather. And if you already love the EP, you're in for a real treat, since the band is planning to play some new, unreleased material at the show. Still not convinced? It's free. There, your evening plans are made.
