Callback: Who is Jim Jefferies?
Jim Jeffries is dead. Long live Jim Jefferies. The West Coast-bred comedian—who appears tonight and through the weekend at Comedy Works downtown—was forced last year to add the extra “e” to his name in order to join the American Federation Of Television And Radio Artists. (The name Jim Jeffries was apparently already taken, and in Hollywood, everyone’s required to be a unique snowflake.) Jefferies was just here in January, and The A.V. Club interviewed him back then. We didn’t ask him about his name change, but we did prod him with such choice questions as this: “You have drawn criticism for attracting crowds of what the British call ‘chavs,’ but over here we just call them ‘douchebags.’ How do you feel about having them for fans?” Read up and reminisce.
