Celebrate Labor Day with the Denver Tattoo Convention

Labor Day is generally reserved for barbecuing and last-minute attempts at cramming traditional summer activities like camping, swimming in the reservoir, and getting drunk outside into the end of the season. Luckily for those less outdoorsy, the Denver Tattoo Convention also happens this weekend, Sept. 5-7, at the Sheraton Hotel downtown, and offers a safe, air-conditioned alternative to things involving fire pits and possible drownings. Put on by local tattoo shop staple Phantom 8, the convention will feature a multimedia exhibit delving into history of the industry, plus a gallery of work by local and national contemporary tattoo artists. An event designed with the whole family in mind, the convention will also showcase Vaudeville-style performances and tattooing competitions. Plus the Kidd’s Corral, an area designed with little people in mind, complete with face painting, temporary tattooing, and kid-friendly entertainment. This year's expo also features educational seminars on the practices and techniques of safe tattooing.
