Music Notes Colorado does Idol, new DeVotchKa video, and more

American Idol, Colorado

Our music scene is a busy place with lots happening. If you don’t obsessively visit the local blogs, alt-weeklies, and other outlets, you could miss something important! That’s okay—we’re here to help with a weekly roundup of some of the more enticing news happening around town.

• Colorado has not one, but two hopefuls in the latest season of American Idol! Meet Emma Henry and Julie Zorilla. Now, go back to ignoring American Idol, and let it finally die the ignominious death it’s long deserved.

• The good people of Reverb brought eager DeVotchKa fans the première of the band’s latest video, for “All The Sand In The Sea.”

• The crunk-loving Boulder boys of 3OH!3 made a cameo appearance on Hellcats (apparently a no-doubt brilliant show about a cheerleader), continuing the group’s trend of being inescapable no matter where you turn.

• If you remember Fissure Mystic fondly, you may enjoy this archival video footage of the band’s last show, an in-store at Wax Trax.

• The excellent music blog Something Like Sound just turned 2! And celebrated by announcing it may be shutting its doors in the near future ...
