Coming attractions: Westword Music Showcase

Dirty Projectors Dirty Projectors

Billed by its organizers as Denver’s largest one-day music festival, the 16th annual installment of the Westword Music Showcase—which goes down tomorrow, spread over 15 stages throughout the Golden Triangle—straddles the line between being a national tour stop and a locally centered celebration of Denver talent. Headliners/out-of-towners Ghostland Observatory, ’90s throwbacks Superchunk, and art-rockers Dirty Projectors lead the roster, with more than 80 local acts following. (View the full schedule here.) Each venue is typically scheduled by genre, though some mash-up is to be expected—the lengthy list of locals includes everything from hip-hop to space-rock to no-wave electro to heavy metal. Chin up, stoners, the Showcase has you in mind as well: A few local medical marijuana dispensaries will be on hand for anyone struggling with a potentially debilitating case of sobriety.

Best Fest Bet: Fell, playing 5:15 p.m. at Bar Standard. Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore is a publically professed fan. Find out why.
