If you haven't caught a glimpse of local designer Baily Rose's work yet, now is your chance. The reconstructive fashionista's designs will begin showing this Saturday as the latest installment of Pop-Up Shoppe, a rotating store/display of art and couture at cupcake destination The Shoppe. Specializing in reconstructed and recycled design, Rose uses bed sheets, worn-out T-shirts, and sports jerseys among her materials to create gorgeous dresses for every body type. Each one-of-a-kind gown sold during Saturday's opening with go for $31.31, with prices varying per piece for the rest of the month.
In her five years as a designer, Rose's creations have been virtually homeless with traveling exhibitions being sold from local boutiques, art galleries, and music venues. But Rose says this Pop-Up Shoppe event will hopefully be her last temporary showing, as she plans to find a permanent place—possibly in conjunction with Five Points coffee house Crema—to create and sell her work.
