Given the rollercoaster polls and ridiculous mudslinging of the current presidential campaign, it’s tempting to curl up in front of your own TV with a bottle of wine and a sympathetic friend this Election Night. But do you really want to tell your grandkids that you spent the biggest evening of 2008 washing your hair? Luckily, Denver/Boulder is catering to those who want to party hard and watch the map get painted red and blue on Tuesday. Whether you want to congratulate yourself on doing your civic duty, celebrate your party’s victory, or just drown your sorrows, Decider has rounded up a few promising spots for your Election-Night revelry.

If you’re Boulder-bound Tuesday, Present Tense Film’s Election Night Simulcast is the place to be; you’ll be able to track Obama and McCain’s ups and downs at the Boulder Theater. Shareef Aleem of KGNU will emcee and keep the commentary rolling—depending on the results, the booze-slurping that ensues will either stoke or quell your outrage. Don’t forget to partake of the classy comfort-food menu at George's Food & Drink next door. Denver politicos will want to check out the Oriental Theater’s Election Night get-together, currently billed optimistically as an Obama Victory Party and promising election chills, thrills, and world-class sandwiches from adjacent Meltz.
Party on
Feeling a little Libertarian? Your people are planning to commune at Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza at 6:30 p.m. on Election Night. Grab a slice and rail against big government and the evils of the two-party system. If you lean Green, commune with your people at an Election Night potluck at the Parkway Clubhouse (12th and Galapago) from 5:30 to 9 p.m. This potluck affair will serve up real-time election results and offer a friendly atmosphere to debate Green Party issues. The dinner is free of charge, but BYOB—may we suggest something organic?

Looking for a classier way to spend the night that will define the next four years? Check out the Election Watch Party at the Denver Press Club. A mere $5 gains entrance into the usually exclusive enclave for local journalists, and the cash bar and cheap hors d’oeuvres should keep you feeling fine no matter what the exit polls say. Visit denverpressclub.org for the necessary RSVP. Of course, there’s always the simpler option of gulping down some pizza, nachos, and, um, Pepsi products at the Pepsi Center, where Metallica takes the stage Tuesday night. It’s sure to give you heartburn the next morning—but then again, if your candidate is the loser, you’re going to be having a lousy day anyway.
