Newswire Explosions In The Sky announce spring tour

Nick Simonite

By now, fans of Explosions In The Sky have surely memorized every slow-building climax and startlingly beautiful wash of sound on last year’s Take Care, Take Care, Take Care, leaving them eager to hear those songs recreated live, preferably in some intimate, out-of-the-way venue, or even in a field somewhere under the naked sky. The good news, then, is that the band has just announced a set of spring tour dates featuring mostly small venues in small towns, as well as some festival dates.

Much like one of the group’s songs, the Explosions tour starts off quietly in a series of smaller theaters in out-of-the-way towns. (Seriously, Grand Junction, Colorado?) Then it builds to a series of epic crescendos with some festival dates and a stop in San Francisco; then the tour heads overseas to, uh, ruin the metaphor. Anyway, if your locale isn’t on the list, take comfort in knowing that there are still plenty of holes (i.e. essentially the entire month of May) that could conceivably be filled in later. If not, it’s time to finally plan that trip to Reno you’ve always dreamed about.
