Flobots set date for new album

After touring internationally, selling a bazillion albums, and working the last election cycle through blue-state grassroots activism, Denver’s Flobots have decided not to rest on their laurels: The hip-hop outfit returns March 16 with the new Survival Story, produced by Mario Caldato of Beastie Boys fame and featuring a guest spot by Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath on the lead single “White Flag Warrior” (out today through digital retailers). If new song previews from recent December shows are any measure, Survival Story seems to be a push into broader directions, tapping everything from ballads held down by viola player Mackenzie Roberts’ vocals to wacky guitar work inspired by Flobots’ most obvious influence, Rage Against The Machine. No word yet on an official release party—surely, though, Flobots are cooking up something.
