Free show at Mile High Mountaineering party Thursday

Monroe Monroe, Take To The Oars, Young Cities, more help launch new Denver business

Mile High Mountaineering, Casselman's

Living here in Colorado affords us the opportunity to do all sorts of bracing outdoor activities, like hiking, camping, and adult kickball. We even have our own, homegrown company—Mile High Mountaineering—dedicated to bringing those outdoorsy types the best in high-end backpacks to facilitate those activities. (Well, not so much the kickball—a backpack just slows you down there, even if it is full of PBR.) And that company is celebrating its product launch in a way that even die-hard outdoor un-enthusiasts can appreciate—by throwing a big, free party with a lot of local bands playing.

Thursday, April 28, the Mile High Mountaineering launch party at Casselman’s offers a lineup of Monroe Monroe, Take To The Oars, Young Cities, and a “surprise guest” (it’s The Epilogues, based on the heavy-handed hints that litter the event’s Facebook page) for free. You’ll also find a photo booth, some drink specials (sponsors include Great Divide Brewing and Montanya Rum, so those are likely suspects), giveaways, and “hot chicks and tanned muscle head dudes,” which implies a terrifying, Jersey Shore sort of vibe. Still, you do get a quartet of some of Denver’s most solid, mainstream-leaning indie pop-rock acts for free, and you might end up getting so drunk you accidentally buy a $350 backpack—hey, you’ve been meaning to spend more time outdoors anyway, right?
