Ian Cooke jams with Ian Cooke in new video (yes, again)

Ian Cooke and Big Blue Entertainment must have a big thing for clones. The pair recently rolled out a video for “A Reasonable Life” that seamlessly applied special effects to make it appear as if a trio of Cookes were hanging out in Lost Lake and singing as another two doppelgangers played his multi-tracked cello part onstage. As you saw then, it was pretty cool.
So why not clone the entire concept, right? Cooke and Big Blue did just that, rolling out a video they peg as a “sequel” to “A Reasonable Life.” This time around Cooke tackles a new song (“Fortitude”) in a new location (an expanse of isolating darkness) and an expanded cadre of cello-playing clones (there are four this time). There’s no word as to whether a third video will continue the series into a trilogy—but we kind of have to hope that, if Cooke continues on this path, he’ll eventually make a video of his clones covering Weird Al’s “I Think I’m a Clone Now” parody of Tiffany’s 1987 cover of Tommy James And The Shondells’ 1967 hit “I Think We’re Alone Now.” It would be a moment so meta it could trigger that 2012 apocalypse we keep hearing about.
