It still snows in Colorado, the GOP’s benign neglect, and more
Yep, that's a bit of snow

Since sifting through dull newspapers, hyperbolic blogs, and overflowing RSS feeds for meaningful news can be an arduous process, News Net catches and compiles both the amusing and the significant reports that were overlooked throughout the work week. Here are some things to think about as the weekend begins.
• Holy shit, there’s a lot of snow! Coloradans woke this morning to find that, despite global warming pushing the median winter temperature well into the 60s, it does, in fact, still snow in February. Seriously though, keep warm and drive safe (if you have to drive at all).
• No need to worry about the toxic campaign culture just yet, since GOP candidates in Colorado are producing an unusually low number of negative campaign ads with just days until the upcoming Colorado Caucus. Guess those lax medical marijuana laws are having a bigger impact than anyone could have predicted.
• In trying to mount an increasingly unlikely comeback against Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich has seemingly left Colorado out of his strategy, as he is not planning to visit the state before the caucus. That totally throws a wrench in our plans to host a local, Bachelor-style reality show where Colorado women attempt to become Newt’s fourth wife before his potential presidential election.
• Lawmakers in Colorado are taking steps toward extending “Make My Day” law rights to local businesses in Colorado. If passed, business owners will be able to use deadly force when they feel threatened. Also, those “No Shirt, No Shoes” signs will be amended to also read, “No fucking chance of walking out of here alive.”
• Circumcisions for everyone! A year after ending the coverage by Medicaid of circumcisions in the state of Colorado, lawmakers have taken a step toward reinstating the coverage. The jury’s still out as to whether this will affect the black market steak-knife circumcisions that many have taken to in the year without coverage.
