Learn the art of directing at ADCD’s film directors panel

Are you creative? Like film? Yearn to be the next Steven Spielberg or, for some reason, the next M. Night Shyamalan? The Art Directors Club of Denver, a local non-profit devoted to “strengthening the creative community through education, workshops, informative events and an annual design competition,” will be teaming up with local production company Impossible to host a film directors panel on Nov. 10 at Casselman’s.
The event is designed to give an inside look at how directors construct and shape their visions for the silver screen. “The feel of this event is kind of an intimate, ‘Inside The Actor’s Studio’-type concept,” explains ADCD member Lindsay Paiz. “The directors really get behind the scenes of their films and how they come up with inspiration and how they’re trying to reach different audiences. They’re the stories you might not know about otherwise.”
Moderated by Impossible director Steve Urbano, local filmmaker Monty Miranda—whose film Skills Like This won Best Narrative Feature Audience Award at the SXSW Film Festival—makes his way from L.A. to join director John Bonito to discuss their experiences within the world of direction, screenwriting, and more. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with cocktails, with the panel and discussion starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 for students, $20 for non-members, and free for ADCD members.
