Lion Sized coughs up new EP

And only three years after the last one

Lion Sized, Denver, band Bernard Wooten

Lion Sized fans, your patience is about to pay off: After avoiding the studio for three years, the Denver punk trio is recording once more and will soon lay five new songs on you. After the long hold-out, you might have expected more, but it’s all been a matter of quality control for the band. “When we write songs, we tend to write the songs and rewrite the songs, not necessarily to make it right, but just to make it better,” drummer Rob Burleson explained. “We constantly record our practices and listen to the songs. I think that’s what took us so long to record again. Not to say the stuff we were writing wasn’t good material, we just wanted to put the best out that we could. I think that’s also why we’re putting out another EP. A lot of bands will put on 13 songs, and when you listen to it you’re like, ‘Oh, well half of that album is filler.’”

The act set the forthcoming EP, Cough Up Your Teeth, to tape with Colin Bricker (The Wheel, Dust On The Breakers) at Notably Fine Audio, and will self-release the album with boutique-label style hand-made packaging. And don’t sweat another ridiculous wait between EPs: Lion Sized has made plans to head into Uneven Studios under the watch of producer Bryan Feuchtinger for a split 7-inch with Accordion Crimes to be released sometime this millennium.
