God knows we’ve all heard more than enough about economics over the past 18 months. But when Lion Sized singer-guitarist Josh Bergstrand touches on the subject, he’s not debating the pros or cons of Keynesian economic policy. He’s tackling it like a Marxist, as a system of repression in “Hey Proletariat!” off the band’s forthcoming EP Cough Up Your Teeth. Bergstrand tosses his casually Marxist lyrics atop a wiry take on classic ’80s punk that recalls the confrontational best singles by bands such as TSOL, Agent Orange, and The Weirdos. Cough Up Your Teeth is set for release May 1 at the Hi-Dive—if you want the EP, you’ll have to actually purchase it. Fucking capitalism.
