Los Campesinos! at the Bluebird Theater
More Just Announced
Gratuitous punctuation in a band name is usually pretty obnoxious (see: Portugal. The Man). But in the case of Los Campesinos!, the exclamation point is actually fairly appropriate to the kind of super-charged indie-pop that the seven-piece act spews out. If vomiting rainbows could be a musical genre, Los Campesinos! would be the cornerstone rain-vom band: Think Art Brut with less brute and Death Cab with more life—oh, and liberal use of the word “fucking” in cutesy, sing-along choruses. Still touring in support of their first two albums—Hold On Now, Youngster and We Are Beautiful, We Are Dooomed, both released last year—Los Campesinos! recently added a second run of North American dates beginning March 6 in sunny Mexico City, including an across-the-border stop April 7 at the Bluebird Theater. Break out those wussy dance moves, this ought to be fun.
