Newswire Mastodon announces fall tour, Letterman appearance

Mastodon, fall tour, The Hunter

Fans of brutal yet intriguingly complex, high-concept metal already had ample reason to be excited for this fall, what with Mastodon’s eagerly awaited fifth studio album, The Hunter, due Sept. 27. Here’s a taste of what you’re in for:

Excited? Now you can get even more excited, since you’ll have the chance to see live interpretations of the album’s sure-to-be insane riffage throughout the band’s North American tour, which kicks off Oct. 25 in Austin and wraps up with a Dec. 1 show in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Joining Mastodon in support are Red Fang and fellow travelers in technical brutality The Dillinger Escape Plan

A full list of tour dates can be found below. Those of you not lucky enough to get a stop in your hometown will have to console yourselves by turning the volume all the way up on the band’s Oct. 5 appearance on Late Night With David Letterman and pretending you’re in the audience. Or, you know, road trip.
