Just Announced Mike Watt And The Missingmen coming to Larimer Lounge in April

Being the type who’s so drawn to the open road that he and his fellow Minutemen gladly slept on whatever strange floors would have them (Does anybody want to make a “Jam Econo Inn” joke? No? Moving on… ), punk and DIY icon Mike Watt is clearly possessed by a restless creative spirit. Watt has followed that fickle muse across a winding range of underground sounds that covers everything from the grab-bag stylings of The Minutemen and his overstuffed solo debut Ball-Hog Or Tugboat? to the all-bass duo Dos and the re-formed Stooges. However, his last two solo discs, 1997’s Contemplating The Engine Room and 2004’s The Secondman’s Middle Stand, both followed the same format: They’re autobiographical song cycles. He’d stuck to that track for The Hyphenated-Man, the debut release by The Missingmen, the occasional backing band for Lou Barlow that Watt has fronted since 2005. Following The Hyphenated-Man’s March 1 North American release, the trio will take the album’s 30 tracks (described by Watt via press release as 30 parts of “one big tune”) on the road, stopping by Larimer Lounge April 22.
