Just Announced Neon Indian plays the Ogden in June

Let’s say you’re an electronic music phenom who’s enjoyed some completely out-of-left-field success in recent years, all the while helping to shepherd in one of the most divisive pop subgenres of this young century. What do you do for an encore? Well, if you’re Neon Indian’s Alan Palomo—scheduled to play the Ogden Theatre June 4—you get a haircut, go to Finland, do a lot of wistful staring and sighing, go to church, and commit suicide by finger pistol, making sure Austin-based filmmaker Sean Lopez captures the whole thing. The video’s stark black and white photography goes against the blog’s usual “everything on Polaroid” aesthetic, but the excerpt from “Heart: Attack” playing under the footage sounds like the proper extension of Psychic Chasms’ synth squiggles and grainy psychedelia.
