Just Announced Never Shout Never is coming, and he doesn't want your spaces or exclamation points

nevershoutnever Oh look, its Deborah Gibson. Or NeverShoutNever, rather.

It’s fascinating how grammar, punctuation, and spacing—or a lack thereof—can affect the general perception of a band. Panic! At The Disco started with an exclamation point, seemingly matured and dropped it, then lost two integral members and regained it. Band names like Sun O))) and Akron/Family are open to pronounciation interpretation, and feel like they exist solely to make us look dumb at parties, like when talking about MGMT—or as some would say, Management—and the uncanny bro-appeal of Oracular Spectacular. Plus, these grammatical moves fuck with us as writers, messing with our script, tripping up our spell check functions, and never seeming to fit within publication style guidelines anyway. But it's not in bands' interest to make our jobs easier; it's their job to make music so we can talk about it. Never Shout Never, who plays Jan. 29 at Club 156, is what got us thinking about this whole thing in the first place, having dropped an exclamation point and now spelling his name as three words—and we came to the conclusion that no matter how hard we try, we still look dumb when talking about !!!.
