New 3OH!3 video, Colorado hip-hop streams, and more
3OH!3 still inexplicably existing
Our music scene is a busy place with lots happening. If you don’t obsessively visit the local blogs, alt-weeklies, and other outlets, you could miss something important! That’s okay—we’re here to help with a weekly roundup of some of the more enticing news happening around town.
• Miraculously, 3OH!3 continues to exist and create music and musical by-products—such as this latest video, for the single “Touchin’ On My.”
• Colorado hip-hop will have a new radio(like) showcase when Box Mobile Radio, a cell phone app that streams music focusing on our local hip-hop scene, launches next month.
• Local hip-hop MC Mane Rok was the focus of a recent feature by our friends at the Boulder Weekly.
• A while back, we reported that psych-jam freak-rockers Tjutjuna had a fan in The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne. Now we’re happy to report that the fellow weirdos of Gauntlet Hair have found a fan in Coyne’s bandmate Steven Drozd.
• Rhinoceropolis, the famed, local DIY venue, has a new head honcho and a new lease that should keep it operating into 2013, ensuring Denver never runs out of experimental acts that run a Game Boy through 13 delay pedals.
