Just Announced Odd Future is a brand, bitch, and will tour this spring

2011 was a big year for the hip-hop collective Odd Future, if “big year” means the group got a lot of attention for doing things other than making music. Odd Future made music last year, too, but that’s not why the group members mattered. Their notoriety was more about onstage and offstage antics, particularly those of head honcho Tyler, The Creator, whose latest foray into news includes an arrest in December. On March 20, the collective will, however, release actual music, an album called OF Tape Vol. 2—but that’s not all. In support of the album, the group will tour, and the performances will be accompanied by a screening of Odd Future’s new Adult Swim television show, and of course a pop-up store, because these guys aren’t just musicians, dammit; they’re a brand. And more good news: Cats are a still an important part of Odd Future’s marketing material, and they look more deranged than ever.
