Newswire Pictureplane dropping new album July 19

Pictureplane

Just in time to catch the rave revival that should be starting any minute now (it is time for early-to-mid-’90s nostalgia, right?), Pictureplane is readying the release of Thee Physical, his sophomore album for Lovepump United. Following up on his Pitchfork-beloved debut, Dark Rift, Thee Physical will be causing asses to shake and poorly informed critics to bandy about the term “witch house” come July 19. You don’t have to wait until then to hear new material though, since Pitchfork is currently hosting a preview track for your downloading pleasure, along with the album art. (Pitchfork has also taken to calling Pictureplane’s Travis Egedy a “scuzz-house” producer, which is a term that’s marginally less stupid than witch house, and slightly more descriptive to boot.) The new track fits in with Egedy’s well-established aesthetic of rough-edged, old-school house/trance with vocals, so fans should be pleased. You can find the full list of tracks below.
