Pictureplane reveals new video, Delux offers free track, and more
Our music scene is a busy place with lots happening. If you don’t obsessively visit the local blogs, alt-weeklies, and other outlets, you could miss something important! That’s okay—we’re here to help with a weekly roundup of some of the more enticing news happening around town.
• Pictureplane, a.k.a. Travis Egedy, showed off his new music video on the Death + Taxes blog last week. Directed by local artist/musician Milton Melvin Croissant III, “Black Nails” was shot outside a plastics factory in Russia during Egedy’s last overseas tour. “It was really quite a scary and apocalyptic place,” Egedy describes to D+T, referring to the industrial fire-orange glow that illuminated the factory and surrounding forest. “I have never seen anything quite like it.”
• Videos are cool, but free music is always better: Reverb’s Steal This Track column dropped a new tune from Delux, a local rapper vetted by writer Eryc Eyl as either “totally wack or a total genius.” The full six-song EP, Officially Official, is for sale now at Delux’s Bandcamp. It could be the best/worst $5 you ever spent.
• Some footage from an undated Paper Bird performance surfaced on Vimeo this week. Shot at the Colorado Music Lounge in Fort Collins, the quickie video includes a rendition of “Lost Boys” and a super-short interview with the band. Also, a disco ball.

• Westword is offering a preview of the new Goreteks/Alert EP, the melt-your-skull Necropolis. The creeper, drum-and-bass-heavy EP is also available for download at Digital-Tunes, Juno, and Beatport.
• Got a dollar or two to spare this holiday season? Don’t forget about your local Internet radio station, Post303Radio.com, which is still taking donations through its IndieGoGo campaign to help fund its start-up operation. Need a refresher on the whole project? How convenient—there’s a video for that!
